Overview

This is a fully remote role.

The organization is a federally certified community development financial institution (CDFI) focused on addressing economic disparities in underserved communities. It provides loans, grants, and technical assistance to businesses and nonprofits that support local economies, create jobs, build affordable housing, and offer essential community services such as nutritious food access and health care.

The Manager, Payroll & Benefits is responsible for managing and enhancing payroll, employee benefits, compensation, leave management, and HR operations. The role focuses on accurate payroll processing, regulatory compliance, effective benefits administration, and supporting employee lifecycle processes to ensure smooth HR operations.

Responsibilities

  • Process multi-state semi-monthly payroll accurately and in compliance with wage and hour laws.
  • Administer payroll system configurations, reconciliations, year-end processing, and reporting.
  • Ensure timely filing and payment of payroll taxes and advise on tax-related matters.
  • Serve as the primary contact for payroll inquiries and issue resolution.
  • Oversee health and welfare benefit programs, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Manage ACA reporting, open enrollment, employee benefit changes, and vendor coordination.
  • Prepare benefit cost analyses and support audits and regulatory reporting.
  • Develop and distribute annual compensation statements and maintain confidential compensation data.
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding processes related to payroll and benefits.
  • Administer leave programs including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and maintain timekeeping systems.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and prepare HR and payroll reports.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and recommend operational improvements.
  • Participate in HR compliance projects and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
