Overview
A Tax Planning Manager position is available within a collaborative and strategic tax team focused on addressing complex tax challenges and supporting business initiatives related to real estate transactions. This role involves managing, implementing, and automating processes concerning various indirect tax issues.
Responsibilities
- Partner with business lines to understand products and offerings and perform taxability analyses as needed
- Review and maintain tax technology systems and documentation to ensure alignment with current products and offerings
- Enable and optimize tax technology functions to support business growth and new initiatives
- Conduct technical tax research and interpret guidance from tax authorities
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities, including leveraging AI and other technology tools
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of tax work experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; Master’s in Tax or CPA preferred
- Advanced Excel skills with strong modeling and data analytics capabilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including assessing tax risk and developing clear recommendations
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Effective communication skills to explain complex tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders and collaborate with external advisors
- Curiosity, adaptability, and motivation to grow within a tax planning function
- Indirect tax experience is a plus
- Experience with Avalara is a plus
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary ranges vary by location:
- $109,000 to $174,000 annually for California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC
- $103,500 to $165,300 annually for Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Vermont
- Eligibility for equity awards based on experience, performance, and location
- Salary will not fall below the exempt employee threshold for the state of residence
Location
- This is a remote position allowing work from any physical location within the United States, subject to certain exceptions
