Overview
A healthcare organization is seeking a Medical Biller to join their team in a remote capacity. The role supports a 90-bed Critical Care Hospital located in New Bedford, MA, which provides acute care services to patients recovering from serious illnesses or injuries, including trauma, infectious diseases, wound healing, cardiovascular disease, stroke, amputation, and ventilator weaning.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit accurate claims to Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, managed care, and patient balances.
- Ensure claims comply with government regulations and payer-specific rules to minimize denials.
- Support timely reimbursement by serving as the front end of the accounts receivable process.
- Lay the foundation for efficient collections and reduce denials downstream.
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive healthcare revenue cycle or facility billing experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Accounting, or related field preferred.
- Experience with hospital billing strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and commercial insurance reimbursement preferred.
- Understanding of revenue cycle processes, claim denial management, and collections workflows.
- Ability to project a professional image.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
- Strong organizational, prioritizing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
- Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions.
- Experience with electronic medical records and billing systems preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
