Overview

This role involves managing accurate, detailed, and thorough medical billing processes within a mental health practice group. The position requires collaboration with team leads, supervisors, management, patients, and office team members to ensure billing practices are complete and accurate. The ideal candidate is self-accountable, able to work independently while supporting a national organization, and thrives in a virtual team environment.

Location: Remote, any US locality

Compensation: $20.00 - $24.00 hourly with potential bonus

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned duties professionally, including interactions with insurance plans, clinics, patients, and team members
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of correct and lawful billing practices for payers
  • Participate in daily revenue cycle management (RCM) processes, ensuring accurate and timely completion of team duties
  • Stay current with national standard operating procedures (SOPs), processes, and policies related to RCM
  • Utilize all available job aids, websites, programs, and resources
  • Support leadership with daily, weekly, and monthly reporting as required
  • Meet department daily productivity goals by completing a set number of accounts while maintaining quality standards
  • Identify and communicate issues such as system access problems, payer behavior, workflow inconsistencies, or other RCM-related opportunities to Team Lead or Supervisor
  • Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of two years of medical facility or medical office billing experience
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, and Teams
  • Experience with automated billing systems preferred
  • Knowledge of full revenue cycle processes, including insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated awareness, inclusivity, sensitivity, humility, and experience working with individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, sexual orientations, gender identities, and other cultural aspects

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, talk, and hear regularly
  • Frequent walking required
  • Ability to lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds
  • Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
