Overview
This position supports the organization’s National Tax team as a Tax Senior Manager – Quality Assurance and Risk Management. The role focuses on identifying and mitigating tax risks both prospectively and retrospectively—working on complex clients and evolving issues in real time, and reviewing closed topics to ensure high-quality and timely service.
The employer operates as a hybrid organization. While the role is considered remote, scheduled notice may require in-person attendance at an office for client work, team meetings, or trainings.
Responsibilities
- Perform tax quality reviews from a tax technical and policy perspective on a variety of return types and other deliverables
- Research complex federal and state income tax topics
- Curate technical topics from tax quality reviews to support training for tax team members
- Assist with tax risk presentations
- Serve as a tax technical resource to the Tax practice
- Draft and/or review technical memoranda and tax alerts
- Assist client teams with complex transactions by identifying risk areas prior to transactions being executed
- Review and analyze tax returns and other information to identify risk mitigation items
Requirements
- Broad relevant experience in tax compliance, tax accounting, and/or tax consulting
- Strong technical skills in tax concepts and rules
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail
- Strong documentation skills
- Ability to work effectively and independently with guidance in an environment of deadlines and concurrent projects
- 7+ years of experience and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA, EA, JD or LLM preferred
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills and intuition
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and various tax research and tax practice tools
Compensation & Benefits
In Virginia, the salary range for a National Tax Senior Manager is $150,000 to $250,000. Actual compensation within the range will depend on skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws.

Location
Remote. This role does not require job duties to be performed within proximity of an office location, but scheduled notice may require in-person presence at an office for client work, team meetings, or trainings.
