Overview

This hybrid-remote role supports the Not-for-Profit team in the Client Accounting Advisory practice. The position is considered remote, meaning routine job duties do not need to be performed within proximity of an office location. Remote employees may be required to be present at an office with scheduled notice for client work, team meetings, or trainings.

The Client Accounting Advisory team delivers accounting, advisory, and technology services, including:

  • Maintaining books and records
  • Financial statement close management and reporting
  • Assistance with state and local tax filings
  • Virtual controller/CFO services
  • Accounting technology solution development

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the Not-for-Profit accounting team, responsible for client execution and timely delivery of work products by team members
  • Independently perform and support complex accounting services for clients
  • Lead global teams supporting client work; develop team skills through guidance and training on accounting principles and calculations
  • Handle inquiries from clients and internal stakeholders; understand industry and client challenges to provide solutions and improvements to business outcomes and client deliverables
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities to provide value to clients
  • Complete responsibilities associated with managing teams, ensuring delivery of goals and benchmarks (e.g., monthly financial deliverables, skill development for career growth, adherence to budget and time parameters)
  • Manage clients and develop/maintain client relationships, including proactive communications, exceeding client expectations, timely completion of client billings, and assisting with accounts receivable management
  • Develop expertise in necessary technologies for performance execution; ensure quality control procedures are executed and adhered to by all team members
  • Identify areas for process improvement for client work and/or practice operations
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the industry vertical(s) being supported
  • Participate in mentoring, recruiting, retention, and team-building activities
  • Maintain professional conduct and show respect to others
  • Follow AICPA and state society regulations and professional ethics
  • Maintain appropriate compliance with firm-wide and local office policies and procedures
  • Proactively develop relationships and provide proactive communications with clients, staff, and internal stakeholders
  • Respond timely and accurately to internal team and client requests
  • Solicit internal experts across the firm to support solutions for client challenges

Requirements

  • BA required; MBA and/or CPA license a plus
  • Proven ability to drive and lead corporate accounting processes and procedures, including cash management, AR/AP, month-end close, payroll, and benefits
  • Strong GAAP experience, including hands-on experience performing controllership functions related to consolidations, GL close, and financial reporting
  • Experience leading Client Accounting Advisory Services (CAS) engagements for nonprofit, governmental, and federally funded entities
  • Deep expertise in Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), grant compliance, indirect cost allocations, internal controls, and audit readiness to support effective stewardship of federal funds
  • Strong Non Profit experience
  • Strong communication, documentation, and presentation skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Project)
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines
  • Accuracy and attention to detail; action-oriented approach (self-starter, team player, detail-oriented)
  • Significant knowledge of accounting and finance processes, including strong understanding of financial statement preparation and analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • QuickBooks, NetSuite, and Sage Intacct experience

Compensation & Benefits

In Maryland, the salary range for an Advisory Senior Manager is $150,000 to $250,000. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent on the individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, and location, and applicable employment laws.
