Overview

This role evaluates consumer loan applications for quality, accuracy, and decisioning based on the applicant’s credit history and the client institution’s guidelines and policies. Loan decisions are made through phone, Internet, indirect/remote login, and data entry, with ongoing monitoring of application quality and efficiency.

Available Schedule

Part Time (Central Time Zone):

  • Monday – Wednesday, 3:30–8:30 PM
  • Saturday, 1:00–9:30 PM

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate loan applications for quality and accuracy, and render decisions based on the applicant’s credit history and applicable client guidelines and policies.
  • Make and finalize loan decisions for applications received via phone, Internet, indirect, remote login, and data entry.
  • Monitor the quality, efficiency, and accuracy of loan applications handled by Contact Center representatives.
  • Finalize loan applications for assigned representative channels.
  • Evaluate and report on the quality and accuracy of information templates, including rate changes and promotional information as needed; maintain continuous working knowledge of templates.
  • Provide ongoing support for cross-sell products.
  • Identify, document, and report risks to the appropriate team and/or management.
  • Support Contact Center representatives with lending questions.
  • Assist with training for new technology and new client programs.
  • Monitor loan applications to ensure quality and loan standards are met, and interact with credit unions regarding member/customer issues.
  • Assist department members as needed to minimize errors that could result in monetary loss and maintain reasonable control of departmental activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school completion or equivalent required.
  • 1 year experience as a Lending Underwriter required.
  • Knowledge of Lending Underwriting best practices.
  • Knowledge of Contact Center loan application processing.
  • Knowledge of all facets of the indirect and direct lending process, including their differences.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written formats.
  • Demonstrated understanding of credit and lending.
  • Demonstrated underwriting skills, including risk assessment and capacity ratio assessment.
  • Ability to use judgmental risk evaluation to determine an appropriate loan decision.
  • Ability to read and evaluate text and non-text credit files for all three CRAs.
  • Ability to adapt underwriting profile to accommodate numerous different financial institutions.
  • Ability to monitor several different remote login indirect loan queues in addition to internet and phone applications.
  • Ability to interpret credit bureau information.
  • Demonstrated understanding of multiple loan origination systems (i.e., Loans PQ, Fiserv Originate Loans, Temenos, Decision Lender 4.0, and arc OS).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of materials handled.
  • Ability to be flexible and work under high pressure in a complex environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously without the need for constant supervision.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • 1 year of Contact Center experience in a loan Contact Center position preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Equity: $23.17 - $29.52

  • Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
