Overview
A leading technology platform serving major life insurers is seeking a Payments Product Analyst to join their product team. This role involves owning payments excellence by investigating payment-related issues, building business cases, and directly impacting customer revenue and operational efficiency. The position reports to the Director of Product Management and is open to remote candidates within the US.
Responsibilities
- Own the investigation lifecycle for payment signals such as high NSF rates, reconciliation gaps, or authorization rate drops, from definition through root-cause analysis to written recommendations.
- Collaborate with analytics, revenue, and support teams to frame the right questions and connect quantitative data with qualitative context.
- Work directly with carrier partner teams to understand the full payment picture.
- Independently analyze each opportunity’s revenue impact, root cause, and urgency using AI tools and sound judgment.
- Produce detailed intelligence documents outlining problems, causes, recommended actions, and value.
- Partner with product managers to translate findings into prioritized opportunities and help maintain the opportunity backlog.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of payments, including ACH return codes, reconciliation processes, retry logic, and chargeback lifecycles.
- Strong investigative skills to trace issues across complex, multi-party payment flows and handle messy data.
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable managing external relationships with partner finance teams and coordinating internal stakeholders.
- Process-oriented mindset with the ability to systematize and document manual work and create executive-ready data views.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in payment analysis, payment operations, or financial reconciliation, preferably within payments companies, SaaS platforms, or fintech.
- Self-directed with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, from daily reconciliation to long-term optimization projects.
