Overview
The Payroll Analyst ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll activities, supports payroll-related inquiries and initiatives, and helps maintain compliance with applicable regulations. This role requires strong knowledge of payroll processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex payroll duties and analysis using best-practice payroll processes.
- Analyze, review, and audit payroll to ensure accuracy.
- Ensure payroll tax accuracy through regular audits and reconciliations.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors to support the accuracy of periodic, monthly, and quarterly tax filings and year-end W-2 data.
- Apply knowledge of Federal, State, Local, and ER tax regulations to reconcile payroll tax liabilities, tax audits, reporting, and final pay requirements.
- Manage, maintain, and audit local tax jurisdiction setup and withholding requirements.
- Monitor and confirm statutory tax regulation updates and update tax rate changes.
- Manage garnishment outsourcing reconciliation and auditing through a third-party vendor.
- Complete data-driven payroll projects.
- Conduct semi-annual review and testing of Workday updates and functionality, plus periodic review and testing of tenant configuration changes in Workday.
- Provide high-quality customer service to internal and external groups.
- Integrate and prepare payroll data from incoming documents related to Compensation, HR, Benefits, and Taxation.
- Verify and reconcile all payroll entries prior to completion.
- Ensure documentation is properly authorized and supported according to company policies, procedures, regulatory practices, and legal requirements.
- Perform reconciliations and detailed audit analyses to ensure accurate processing.
- Review, load, monitor, and reconcile third-party wage garnishment processing.
- Review, process, and reconcile stale-dated checks, ACH returns, and replacements.
- Solve day-to-day operational issues of varied scope and complexity.
- Complete required training modules and certifications prior to the due date.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures to help maintain a safe work environment.
- Communicate professionally with internal and external contacts.
- Follow company policies and execute company standards on appearance and functionality, and appropriate brand representation.
- Communicate concerns or issues to leadership to support efficient department and company operations.

Education
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, related field, and/or equivalent experience preferred
Professional Experience
- 5+ years of payroll processing, preferably in a large organization or shared services environment (required)
- 5+ years utilizing payroll software and systems (required)
- 3+ years hands-on experience with Workday and Workday payroll processing (required)

Scope
- Work is accomplished with moderate supervision; follows established and detailed directions; work is reviewed for accuracy and overall adequacy.
- Under general supervision, may proceed alone or perform regular duties, referring questionable cases to a supervisor.
- Failure to achieve results or erroneous judgments may require additional resources to correct and/or achieve goals.
- Contacts are primarily within the department or function, with occasional cross-functional interfaces. Some limited external customer contact on routine matters.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive pay range: $75,000 - $85,000 (depending on qualifications and experience)

Location & Work Options
This role may be supported through a hybrid schedule or fully remote arrangements. Hybrid work may be associated with Houston BedQuarters (BQ).
