Overview
The organization is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to support employees through payroll, benefits, and People & Culture (P&C) services. This role maintains accurate payroll and benefits data, coordinates bi-weekly payroll, and assists employees with payroll and benefits questions. The position also supports P&C operations, employee engagement initiatives, wellness programs, and leave of absence administration, while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Administer employee leave of absence programs, including FMLA, parental leave, disability, leave without pay, and other protected or company-approved leaves.
- Serve as a trusted point of contact for employees, managers, vendors, and third-party administrators regarding leave, benefits, payroll, accommodations, and workers’ compensation matters.
- Manage leave and return-to-work processes in Workday, ensuring timely status updates, accurate documentation, and compliant lifecycle tracking.
- Maintain accurate employee, leave, payroll, and benefits records across Workday, Costpoint, and related HR systems.
- Coordinate payroll administration activities, including timekeeping, payroll setup, pay adjustments, special pay codes, discrepancy resolution, and payroll reporting.
- Calculate, validate, and process pay-related items tied to leaves of absence, disability programs, wage replacement benefits, workers’ compensation, and return-to-work activities.
- Administer employee benefit programs, including health and welfare plans, retirement programs, flexible spending accounts, COBRA, voluntary benefits, enrollments, billing, and deductions, and respond to employee inquiries.
- Support workplace accommodations and wellness initiatives in partnership with employees, P&C Business Partners, and vendors to promote ADA compliance, travel accommodations, and employee well-being.
- Prepare reports and support compliance with employment, payroll, and benefits requirements; resolve complex payroll, leave, benefits, and compliance-related issues with a high level of employee service.
Applied Knowledge & Skills
- Working knowledge of benefits and payroll practices required, including compliance with state and federal laws.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively as part of a team or independently.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and Workday Payroll and Benefits.
- Professional communication style with clients and staff.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or its International Equivalent
- Business Administration, Finance, Human Resource Management, or Related Field
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience providing full range of leave of absence administration in an office setting.
- Intermediate knowledge of FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, ERISA, Worker’s Compensation, and other relevant state and local leave laws.
- Prior work experience with Workday HRIS system preferred.
- Working knowledge of benefit programs and processes.

Travel Requirements
Compensation & Benefits
- US-Based hiring salary range: 75,000 to 85,000 USD
- Employer contribution: 7% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account.
- Paid time off for full-time staff (40 hours/week):
- 18 days of paid vacation per year
- 12 sick days per year
- 11 holidays per year
- Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.
