Overview

A healthcare-focused organization specializing in release of information solutions is seeking a Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations. The role involves managing accurate payroll processing, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, and leading the payroll team to support organizational and employee needs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all payroll cycles, averaging approximately 100 pay runs annually.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage, tax, and reporting regulations.
  • Maintain and update payroll systems and procedures, including timecard verification, management of paid holidays, leaves, bonuses, referral bonuses, overtime, and paid military leave.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and Finance departments to process payroll-related changes such as new hires, terminations, and compensation adjustments.
  • Prepare and file quarterly tax reports and other legally required documentation.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and tax issues, including managing a dedicated payroll mailbox.
  • Manage year-end processes including W-2 preparation, audits, and reconciliations.
  • Participate in month-end accounting close procedures related to payroll.
  • Continuously evaluate payroll procedures and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience, including at least 3 years in a management or supervisory role; experience supervising staff preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency with payroll software, specifically ADP Workforce.
  • Experience with ERP-based accounting software, preferably NetSuite.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to independently manage end-to-end payroll tasks, including processing payroll, liaising with payroll providers and internal departments, and coordinating with third-party administrators for 401(k), benefits, and insurance.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
