Overview
This role involves leading and supporting payroll operations for the US and globally. The Payroll Manager will manage payroll processes, ensure accuracy and compliance, and help streamline payroll operations through improved procedures and system enhancements.
Location
US remote or Nashville hybrid
Responsibilities
- Review and audit payroll for accuracy and completeness; identify and resolve discrepancies before payroll is finalized.
- Manage internal and external audits related to payroll.
- Manage quarterly and year-end payroll tax filings for the US and handle compliance requirements.
- Work with state agencies to resolve tax discrepancies.
- Independently identify and recommend new procedures to streamline payroll operations, strengthen controls, and improve automation and efficiency.
- Participate in payroll system testing and enhancements.
- Provide guidance and training to the payroll administrator and support global payroll activities as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
- 7+ years of professional experience in payroll.
- Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms; at least 2 years in Workday required (other systems are a plus).
- Strong knowledge of US payroll labor laws and payroll tax requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Some experience working with payroll vendors for international payroll preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
