Overview
A qualified Payroll Specialist is needed for a remote role supporting payroll processing and assistance for audits, compliance, and reporting. The position is based in EST or CST time zones.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll for hourly and salary employees, including calculating salary, deductions, bonuses, and benefits
- Maintain accurate payroll records, including attendance, leaves, and compensation changes
- Coordinate with HR, finance, and other departments to gather payroll data (new hires, terminations, promotions, and salary changes)
- Review and verify payroll inputs (timesheets, bonuses, commissions, taxes, and deductions) to ensure accuracy and compliance with local tax laws and regulations
- Verify tax and wage order payments processed through a third-party provider
- Audit hours imported from time and attendance systems and prepare adjustments for payroll processing
- Audit payroll inputs and complete variance audits for payroll approvals prior to payroll completion
- Address and resolve employee inquiries related to payroll and deductions professionally and promptly
- Generate payroll reports for management, audits, and statutory filings
- Stay current on changes to payroll regulations and implement necessary process updates
- Assist with payroll audits, compliance checks, reports, and system upgrades
- Maintain payroll records, documentation, and confidentiality of employee information in compliance with data protection laws and company policies
Requirements
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in payroll processing (global payroll processing is a plus)
- Proficient in payroll and HCM software and systems; Workday preferred
- Strong understanding of Federal and state payroll laws, tax laws, and compliance regulations
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills; ability to work accurately with large volumes of data
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Strong Excel skills
Compensation & Benefits
- $22.80 - $30.40 per hour
- W2 only; no Corp to Corp
