Overview
A healthcare organization supporting a network of 890 practices nationwide and serving approximately 14.5 million patients annually is seeking a Payroll Specialist. The organization focuses on improving patient care through collaboration and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Accurately compile, compute, and enter payroll data into the ADP payroll system in a timely manner
- Coordinate with medical directors, managers, physicians, Recruiting, HR, and Benefits departments to gather payroll information
- Verify time records and prepare paychecks, electronic transfers, and quarterly incentive bonuses
- Validate payroll data for accuracy and completeness
- Balance Payroll Preview reports to ensure correct pay
- Manage wage garnishments by completing necessary forms and adjusting payroll records
- Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll laws and stay updated on regulatory changes
- Assist with payroll-related reconciliations, site-based financial inquiries, and annual audits
- Generate regular and ad hoc payroll reports for leadership and management
- Respond to inquiries via a ticketing system and phone, including ticket delegation
- Support Site Medical Directors with bonus calculations and ad hoc reporting
- Assist with audits related to internal records, workers compensation, and tax filings
- Help develop finance-related service level agreements and evaluate performance against them
- Participate in Payroll and HRIS updates, testing, and third-party system implementations
- Maintain updated payroll databases and records of payroll transactions and changes
- Review online schedules to ensure accurate hours worked and paid
- Complete written and verbal Verification of Employments
- Contribute suggestions for payroll and finance department improvements
- Engage in departmental meetings and provide feedback to enhance efficiency
- Provide payroll history data to employees upon request
Requirements
- 2-3 years of payroll or accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
- General knowledge of payroll and accounting principles
- Familiarity with payroll policies, standards, procedures, and practices
- Strong math skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Effective customer service skills
- Detail-oriented with strong data collection, assimilation, and reconciliation abilities
- Ability to multitask and perform well under pressure
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary of $32 per hour (excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses)
