Overview
A professional services firm specializing in Outsourced Accounting, HR, and Payroll services is seeking a remote Payroll Specialist to collaborate with internal teams and small-business clients nationwide. The organization operates as a remote-first company headquartered in Carmel, Indiana, with a national footprint.
Responsibilities
- Accurately process weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payroll for clients across various industries and systems.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and internal policies.
- Import hours correctly from Time & Attendance systems.
- Manage payroll changes such as new hires, terminations, and raises.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and prepare reports.
- Submit 401(k) and HSA contributions as required.
- Resolve payroll-related issues and respond to client inquiries.
- Maintain working knowledge of payroll-related systems used by clients, including 401(k) and HRIS platforms, to support current needs and provide future recommendations.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of direct, hands-on payroll experience.
- Experience working with multi-state companies or clients.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll compliance.
- Excellent time management skills with strict adherence to deadlines.
- Experience with one or more payroll systems such as Gusto, Paylocity, Rippling, ADP, Paychex, iSolved, or Paycom is highly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Payroll certifications such as CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) are preferred but not required.
