Overview

This role involves supporting the payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees across US and Canadian operations within a global packaging solutions organization. The Payroll Specialist 2 will work alongside the Payroll team to ensure timely and accurate payroll execution, participate in process improvements, and maintain compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Process multi-company, multi-state, and multiple pay cycle payrolls accurately and on time
  • Participate in projects to optimize payroll processes, particularly within Workday, to reduce manual operations
  • Investigate root causes of payroll errors and implement corrective and preventative actions
  • Conduct proactive audits to ensure data accuracy and compliance with SOX controls; initiate corrective actions for system errors
  • Manage distribution of confidential payroll information to auditors, corporate teams, and external parties as needed
  • Research and interpret federal and state payroll regulations for the US and Canada
  • Resolve payroll issues balancing employee needs, cost considerations, and regulatory compliance
  • Handle garnishment documents and manage employee case resolutions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in business administration, accounting, finance, or human resources
  • 2-3 years of payroll processing experience managing payrolls of 2,000+ employees
  • Strong technical aptitude with ability to understand multiple disciplines and technologies
  • Proficient payroll auditing skills
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Teams
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and oral)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of payroll processing experience managing payrolls of 5,000+ employees
  • Experience with Workday payroll processing
  • Experience in a fast-paced public company environment
  • UKG payroll system experience
  • Payroll certifications such as FPC or CPP

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $63,840 - $71,820
