Overview

The organization is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to process payroll accurately and efficiently while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This role supports accurate payroll records, administers payroll deductions, and resolves employee inquiries related to compensation. You will partner closely with Human Resources, Finance, and other departments to streamline payroll operations and implement process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Process various payroll schedules, including weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payrolls
  • Review and audit payroll data to ensure accuracy of timecards, earnings, deductions, and tax calculations
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate employee payroll records within payroll systems
  • Administer updates related to new hires, terminations, status changes, and salary adjustments
  • Administer wage garnishments, levies, child support orders, and other deductions in compliance with legal requirements
  • Reconcile payroll reports and prepare journal entries
  • Assist with payroll tax filings and year-end activities, including W-2 processing
  • Respond promptly to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, taxes, and payroll policies
  • Support internal audits by providing required payroll documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless payroll operations
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of payroll processing experience
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance standards
  • Multi-state payroll experience preferred
  • Familiarity with garnishments, employee benefits deductions, and payroll taxes
  • Proficiency with payroll systems such as ADP, Paycom, UKG, Workday, Ceridian, or similar platforms
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills highly desirable

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPP certification (considered a plus)
