Overview
A boutique HR and recruitment services firm is seeking a part-time Payroll Specialist to support multiple clients with long-term assignments. This role involves managing end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and providing timely financial information related to payroll and benefits. The position offers remote work from Florida, Georgia, or South Carolina with flexible hours starting at 5 hours per week and potential for growth.
Responsibilities
- Manage complete payroll processing for client employees.
- Enter data into payroll and administrative databases and software.
- Calculate wages, benefits, tax deductions, commissions, and other payroll components.
- Prepare and process paychecks and cash deposits.
- Maintain accurate payroll documentation and transaction records.
- Prepare and distribute income statements.
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries and resolve concerns.
- Perform account balance and payroll reconciliations.
- Prepare financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes.
- Update payroll-related information and manage overall payroll workflow.
- Address payroll issues and questions from employees and supervisors.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and lead payroll administration functions.
- Provide internal support and guidance to other payroll and HR professionals.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of payroll processing experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist, Manager, or in similar roles.
- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and payroll practices.
- Experience with accounting and payroll software.
- Broad knowledge of payroll regulations and compliance, including federal, state, and local laws (e.g., FLSA, FICA, ACA, garnishment laws).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Applications; advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Excellent communication, time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and handle confidential information.
- Strong leadership skills and self-motivation.
- Ability to prioritize, plan, and complete tasks independently.
- Problem assessment and problem-solving capabilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred.
- Payroll certification preferred (CPP, FPC, CPS).
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting pay: $25-28 per hour.
- Remote work from Florida, Georgia, or South Carolina.
