Overview

This Payroll Tax Specialist role focuses on maintaining data integrity and compliance across multi-state and international (US/Canada) jurisdictions using ADP Workforce Now, Equity Edge, and Workday. The position involves acting as a system auditor, leveraging advanced Excel skills to build automated reconciliation templates and streamline tax processes. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who can navigate complex tax reciprocity and manage audit support to drive measurable process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Audit and ensure data consistency between Workday, Equity Edge, and ADP Workforce Now, verifying employee data changes, equity vesting, and mid-period updates to prevent payroll errors.
  • Proactively improve and automate payroll tax processes to reduce manual tasks and overcome system limitations.
  • Oversee tax compliance and profile setups for over 70 local and multi-state jurisdictions across the US and Canada.
  • Identify and resolve timing differences and tax agency notices; support year-end filings by providing clean, audited data ensuring 100% integrity.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in complex Payroll Tax Administration.
  • Proficient with ADP Workforce Now and Workday HRIS, with a strong understanding of data flow between HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for reconciling large and disparate datasets.
  • Solid knowledge of US federal, state, and local tax reciprocity rules.
  • Experience in automating and improving payroll processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience monitoring employee data to identify new state or local tax obligations to maintain compliance.
  • Ability to develop clear, proactive guidance to assist employees with multi-state withholding and equity tax questions, promoting clarity and self-service.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $60,000 - $80,000, with actual compensation based on experience, qualifications, and location.
