Overview
This role involves managing annual nondiscrimination testing and preparing the annual Form 5500 for various retirement plans including 401(k), 457, 403(b), and non-ERISA 403(b) plans. The position requires collaboration with advisors, auditors, and plan sponsors to provide consulting on plan issues, contributions, and Form 5500 reconciliations.
Responsibilities
- Perform Nondiscrimination, Top Heavy, and Coverage Testing for defined contribution plans
- Calculate retirement plan contributions and allocations, including Safe Harbor allocations, discretionary match, and profit sharing
- Calculate corrective actions for failures in annual testing
- Consult and explain testing results and any required corrections to stakeholders
- Prepare IRS Form 5500-SF, 5500-EZ, and assist with preparation of Form 5500 with schedules
- Support plan audits, including reconciliations and preparation of assets and other plan reports
- Assist with data accumulation and asset reconciliation for plan conversions
- Meet or exceed internal and compliance deadlines
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred
- Ability to read and understand complex 401(k) plan documentation
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and ability to apply them to asset reconciliations
- Experience with PensionPro and FT Williams software preferred
- QKA Certification preferred
- Ability to reconcile transactions and assets on Trust Statements
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic work environment
- Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively under pressure
- Ability to meet seasonal deadlines based on IRS and Department of Labor regulations
- Strong listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- High attention to detail
Remote Work Requirements
- Must have an uninterrupted virtual workspace free from distractions
- Family care arrangements should be in place during business hours
- Internet speed requirement of 50 Mbps or higher for individual use; higher speeds required if sharing connection
