Overview
This role involves performing premium audits to ensure the financial integrity of premium development by examining policyholders' operations and financial records. The Premium Auditor will verify that exposures such as payroll, sales, and fixed assets are accurately calculated within strict insurance guidelines. The position requires travel to customer locations within a 50-mile radius of Southeastern Pennsylvania and offers mileage reimbursement. Work is primarily conducted from home when not traveling.
Responsibilities
- Examine policyholders' accounting and financial records to accurately calculate earned premium for smaller, less complex risks.
- Ensure audited exposures (payroll, sales, fixed assets, etc.) comply with insurance guidelines.
- Communicate audit findings through detailed formal reports supported by audit workpapers.
- Review audit documentation and company policy systems to determine coverages and plan audit strategy.
- Investigate policyholder operations to obtain actual exposures, verify classifications, and ensure compliance with state laws and insurance regulations for the audit period.
- Prepare detailed work papers and written correspondence supporting audit findings.
- Identify and communicate issues to appropriate stakeholders such as Central Processing, Distribution, Underwriting, and Agents/Brokers to clarify risk conditions or initiate policy changes.
- Schedule audit appointments with policyholders considering assignment priority and location.
- Manage workload efficiently, including tracking work-in-process and documenting progress for management.
- Complete routine administrative tasks such as time tracking, expense reports, and mileage reports.
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting preferred.
- Open to recent graduates.
- Experience in audit, compliance, or finance is a strong plus.
