Overview
This role is for a Principal Technical Accountant within a growing and dynamic Technical Accounting team. The position involves detailed analysis of proposed or executed transactions by reviewing contracts and agreements and collaborating with cross-functional business partners, including US and International Accounting teams. The role requires researching relevant accounting guidance to identify key accounting issues and proposing accounting and disclosure requirements for complex non-routine transactions. Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential, as the role involves preparing technical accounting memos and interfacing with external auditors on technical accounting issues. This position reports to the Director of Technical Accounting.
Responsibilities
- Conduct accounting research on technical accounting matters
- Document accounting research results in technical accounting memos
- Facilitate external auditor reviews and audits of technical accounting positions
- Perform due diligence procedures and prepare related reports for M&A activity
- Define procedures related to purchase accounting, including documentation of key technical accounting issues and coordination with third-party valuation specialists
- Manage or participate in ad hoc special projects
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of public accounting experience
- Minimum of 8 years combined experience in public accounting and industry
- Technical proficiency in US GAAP, especially ASC 842, ASC 805, ASC 810, ASC 321, and ASC 323
- Strong critical thinking skills to evaluate all potential accounting implications and solutions
- Ability to work cross-functionally and with third parties to gather relevant facts and articulate accounting conclusions
- Strong written communication skills with experience preparing technical accounting memos
- Experience working with external auditors on technical accounting issues
- CPA certification is highly preferred
Compensation & Benefits
- US hiring range: $97,500 - $199,500 per year
