Overview
This role provides full-cycle accounting support for the retail property management team and serves as a key member of the accounting function. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate general ledgers, preparing reconciliations, supporting monthly closes and distributions, and communicating financial results to external clients and internal management teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily accounting functions for multiple regions
- Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports in accordance with GAAP, including monthly financial statement preparation/reconciliation and bank reconciliations
- Prepare weekly and monthly client distributions
- Review and maintain accuracy of general ledgers
- Post general ledger activity; reconcile and maintain subsidiary ledgers
- Support Property Accounting Managers with ad hoc projects, monthly closes, and distributions
- Monitor cash receipt postings, tenant billings, billing adjustments, and perform tenant ledger reconciliations when necessary
- Review invoice coding and invoice workflow to ensure adherence to capitalization policies and timely payments to vendors
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure accounting accuracy and completeness of financial packages
- Independently research historical cash transactions and provide timely responses to Portfolio Managers and Regional Directors
- Provide accounting detail and assistance to Property Accounting Managers for internal and external auditors
- Research new accounting laws and regulations for different states as needed
- Assist with preparing annual 1099 and 1096 reporting to vendors and the IRS
- Assist with preparing quarterly 592 and 588 forms to the Franchise Tax Board as needed
- Perform ad hoc assignments as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent preferred
- 3+ years of Real Estate Accounting experience
- Experience in Public Accounting is a plus
- Proficiency using Excel and Google Suite products
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Compensation & Benefits
- $60,000 - $80,000 annually
