Quant Research & Strategy Associate Internship

Overview

This role is for a Quant Research & Strategy Intern within a private family office.

• Compensation: $0 (Unpaid / Mentorship Only)
• Commitment: 20 hours/week (Remote)
• Term length: 3 months (option to extend)
• Focus: Multi-Asset Strategy Optimization & Deployment

Responsibilities

• Equity Strategy Audit: Review live common stock models to identify performance gaps and mathematical drift; modify existing logic to align with current market regimes.
• Strategy Development: Own the research and foundational modeling for new strategies from thought through execution, including building, testing, and iterating.
• Custom Backtesting & Data: Use the organization’s proprietary backtesting infrastructure to validate models against slippage, liquidity constraints, and asset-specific fees. Work with data from paid vendors and in-house sourced workflows.
• Live Market Deployment: Help prepare proven models for deployment into the markets (not purely theoretical work).

Requirements

• Mathematically rigorous: Deep understanding of expectancy, variance, and R-multiple distributions.
• Technical proficiency: High comfort level with Python or similar data languages.
• AI tooling: Experience with Claude or Codex, and hold at least the $20/month plan in either.
• Market-agnostic: Ability to translate an “edge” across Equities, FX, and Crypto.
• High agency: Ability to turn a high-level thesis into an independent proof-of-concept without needing a manual.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with live strategy systems or production research workflows.
• Experience validating models using institutional constraints (e.g., liquidity, fees, slippage).
