Overview

The organization is recruiting Ratings Operations Associates to support financial and impact data work for community development financial institutions (CDFIs) and other private impact loan funds. This role suits self-starters and quick-learners with strong attention to detail, an aptitude for data, and an interest in social and environmental justice.

Associates support the organization’s ratings work by managing, interpreting, and analyzing data and financial statements collected from CDFIs. Work is performed in a collaborative team environment with opportunities to learn new skills and contribute to rating analyses and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage CDFIs’ data and document submissions to the organization’s cloud data collection platform and verify the accuracy of submitted information.
  • Produce calculated ratios and related tables and graphs for rating analyses and quarterly performance reports on individual CDFIs.
  • Proof and finalize quarterly financial statements and reported performance metrics, ensuring accuracy.
  • Prepare detailed report templates for rating Analysts.
  • Communicate with CDFIs and rating Analysts to obtain clarification or additional data when needed.
  • Track and monitor the timeliness of assigned rating projects and participate in weekly scheduling meetings to maintain operational pace and quality standards.
  • Lead demonstrations of the organization’s cloud platform for external users.
  • Participate in industry convenings/events, both virtual and in-person, to support the organization’s outreach.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, accounting, economics or related fields, with outstanding record of academic achievement.
  • Two plus years of professional experience in financial services, including experience reading, interpreting, and analyzing financial data, GAAP financial statements, and tax returns. Familiarity with nonprofit financial statements is a plus.
  • Two plus years of demonstrated accounting experience through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, education.
  • Advanced PC skills, including standard Microsoft Office products and database applications. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) systems desired; preferably Salesforce.com is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong accounting knowledge and skills; proficiency in production and analysis of lender financials; nonprofit financial reporting experience is a plus.
  • One plus years of financial spreading and analysis, credit risk management or underwriting experience is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, plus strong organization and time management skills to meet hard deadlines.
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently and with teams and diverse constituents with strong work ethic.
  • Ability to respond to Analyst and CDFI inquiries, accept direction, and apply knowledge to complete assigned tasks successfully.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing deadlines in a high-pressure environment, with varying degrees of supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to change (e.g., shifting priorities, demands, and timelines) using time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Alignment of personal goals with the organization’s mission and the field of impact investing.
