Overview

A healthcare organization is seeking a Collections Specialist to join their Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) team. This is a remote, full-time position requiring candidates to reside in specific U.S. states at the time of employment. The role focuses on managing collections, resolving claim denials, and supporting patient financial assistance programs within a healthcare billing environment.

Location

This position is remote but limited to candidates residing in the following states at the time of employment:

Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Washington D.C.

Travel with company equipment is not permitted.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate collection follow-up on unpaid or denied claims with appropriate payors.
  • Research, appeal, and resolve claim rejections and denials.
  • Review payments to ensure accuracy of insurance payments and patient balances.
  • Facilitate drug manufacturer co-pay assistance programs for patient financial aid.
  • Respond promptly to written payor communications with appropriate actions.
  • Communicate payment trends or insurance denials impacting revenue.
  • Document all patient account communications thoroughly using the practice management system.
  • Correspond with patients regarding insurance and payment responsibilities.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality via the Electronic Medical Record System.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional healthcare billing experience.
  • At least 2 years of accounts receivable and customer service experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience working remotely preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of infusion billing experience.
  • Experience with R2 and WeInfuse programs.
  • Knowledge of insurance, accounting, medical billing, HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, medical abbreviations, and terminology.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly pay range: $20.00 - $26.50

Work Schedule

  • Full-time, non-exempt

Reporting

This position reports to the Manager of Revenue Cycle Management.
