Overview
A Revenue Cycle Management Specialist I is responsible for working across all facets of the revenue cycle department. This role focuses on claims processing, managing accounts receivable, and ensuring proper collection within best practice timeframes. Strong problem-solving skills are essential to analyze situations, research data, and resolve or formulate decisions using various tools.
Responsibilities
- Answer patient calls and provide clear explanations of medical statements
- Help patients understand billing terms such as deductibles, coinsurance, out-of-pocket expenses, copays, and denials
- Address patient inquiries and concerns with empathy and professionalism
- Process credit card payments securely and efficiently
- Assist patients with setting up payment plans if needed
- Collaborate with other departments to review and resolve billing discrepancies
- Ensure accurate and timely updates to patient accounts
- Prepare and send out monthly statements to patients, ensuring all statements are sent by the end of the month
- Verify the accuracy of patient statements and billing information
- Adhere to company policies and regulatory requirements
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- 2 to 3 years of related work experience; physical therapy experience preferred
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMRs) and medical billing software
- Knowledge of billing requirements and regulations of major payers
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively

Location
This role is based within a comprehensive outpatient orthopedic physical therapy organization with multiple facilities across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York.
