Overview

An established hospitality management organization is seeking an energetic and experienced Regional Controller to join their team. This role involves overseeing accounting functions across multiple properties, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and effective communication with ownership and operational teams. Candidates with prior hotel or hospitality experience are preferred. Remote work flexibility is available for qualified candidates, with an expectation of regular office presence for those within a 30-mile radius of Louisville, KY.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee corporate accounting functions and month-end close processes, including ledger reconciliation and report accuracy
  • Participate in monthly financial statement reviews with corporate office and property management
  • Ensure timely journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial research
  • Prepare and review cash projections and communicate cash needs to ownership
  • Lead and manage senior and staff accountants
  • Analyze budget-to-actual variances and ensure financial result accuracy
  • Direct monthly forecasting and annual budget processes
  • Oversee inventory calculations, physical counts, and pricing accuracy
  • Manage hotel cash handling operations and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements
  • Oversee sales and occupancy tax reconciliations
  • Manage accounts payable invoice processing and coding accuracy
  • Assist in creating and implementing internal audit standard operating procedures
  • Perform accounts receivable functions, including credit approval and aging review
  • Support external audit requests and ensure audit standards compliance
  • Provide financial training and guidance to hotel operational teams
  • Prepare monthly financial packages, owner and department reports
  • Conduct trend and metric analysis and produce ad hoc reports
  • Develop budget planning tools and forecasting best practices
  • Track forecast accuracy and coordinate new hotel data integration
  • Conduct ROI analysis on renovations and revenue enhancement projects

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years senior staff accountant experience or 5 years financial management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • Hotel industry experience is helpful
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and computerized general ledger systems
  • Knowledge of property management systems (PMS) and point of sale (POS) systems preferred

Location
