Overview
The Relocation Tax Specialist provides technical leadership for clients implementing Expense Management Processes, including decisions on transferee gross-up benefits, ongoing payroll data communication, and management reporting of relocation program costs. This role coordinates year-end payroll tax reconciliations and transferee reporting and serves as a subject matter expert on tax implications of client relocation programs. The specialist partners with Compensation and Finance (CF) Managers to implement process efficiencies through automation. For global clients, the role collaborates with client tax providers or internal compensation teams to supply relevant global year-end and monthly data supporting payroll reporting.
Responsibilities
- Provide tax leadership related to client relocation programs.
- Accurately calculate gross-ups and taxability reporting for clients.
- Stay current on tax law changes to ensure compliant and accurate payroll reporting.
- Coordinate payroll tax reconciliations, true-ups, and timely issuance of tax reports for the US.
- Respond to queries from associates, clients, and transferees regarding tax gross-ups and financial reporting.
- Coordinate with client tax partners and internal compensation teams to report global payroll information.
- Audit payroll and financial reporting to clients, recommending system and training improvements for accuracy and efficiency.
- Lead implementation of new clients, providing expert guidance on tax assistance options to meet relocation reimbursement goals.
- Create payroll and management reports tailored to client needs.
- Serve as liaison with IT for special client system interface requirements.
- Collaborate with CF Managers and Analysts to launch clients into the CF process.
- Provide tax assistance training and support to CF Analysts and Associates, including ad hoc report creation and system training.
- Review data for integrity, quality, clarity, and accuracy.
- Partner with CF Managers to drive efficiencies through automation and standardization of invoicing and financial reporting.
- Provide leadership in tax reporting software.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of financial experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of financial and auditing principles and guidelines.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and meet deadlines.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Global payroll experience preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $61,000 - $74,000 (may vary based on location, market conditions, experience, and qualifications).
