Overview
This full-time, exempt position offers a remote work opportunity as a Payroll Staff Accountant with a salary range of $59,000 to $65,000 annually. The role involves assisting with the preparation of individual income tax returns and payroll processing for clients, serving as a key member of the engagement team with direct client interaction.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and file 1040 tax returns and other related tax forms
- Calculate tax equalization
- Assist in responding to tax notices and act as a client representative with tax authorities
- Perform gross-up computations for expatriates
- Maintain payroll operations by collecting and entering data
- Review payroll reports and wage withholdings for accuracy
- Develop and maintain client relationships
- Communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing, to build business relationships
- Demonstrate a broad and in-depth understanding of tax concepts, pursue increased tax knowledge through client assignments, and stay current with tax developments
- Manage multiple tax engagements simultaneously and prioritize work effectively
- Collaborate within a diverse team environment and communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and clients
- Utilize various software applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and tax preparation software for daily tasks
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting or a payroll concentration within an accounting program from an accredited college or university
- CPA or EA license, or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam
- Strong tax accounting and analytical skills
- Proficiency in tax accounting software, Excel, and Word
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Business-level proficiency in English and Japanese
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask
