Overview
This role is a Manager position on the Renewable Energy team within the Client Accounting Advisory practice.
The employer is a hybrid firm. Most professionals are located within a commutable distance to an office. This position is remote, meaning job duties do not require performance within proximity of an office location. Remote employees may be required to be present at an office with scheduled notice for client work, team meetings, or trainings.
Client Accounting Advisory partners with clients to provide accounting, advisory, and technology services. Services include maintaining books and records, financial statement close and management reporting, assistance with state and local tax filings, virtual controller/CFO services, and accounting technology solution development.
Responsibilities
- Support the Renewable Energy accounting team, responsible for client execution and timely delivery of client work product
- Independently perform accounting services for clients, including managing team deliverables, ensuring teams meet goals and benchmarks for performance and execution (e.g., delivering monthly financials, supporting skill development for career growth, and working within budget and time parameters)
- Perform thorough self-review of work prior to final submission
- Develop proficiency in all technology necessary to perform and execute work; act as a resource for other staff
- Ensure quality control procedures are followed and executed
- Identify opportunities for process improvement for client work and/or practice operations
- Build and maintain positive client, colleague, and internal stakeholder relationships
- Respond timely and accurately to internal team and client requests
- Develop efficient work habits to support the organization and work within budgetary (time and deadline) parameters
- Appropriately communicate difficult situations encountered on engagements to leadership
- Maintain appropriate compliance with firm-wide policies and procedures
- Positively represent and actively promote the firm
- Participate in mentoring, recruiting, retention, and team-building activities related to job responsibilities
- Proactively seek knowledge, new tasks, and additional responsibilities
- Follow regulations and professional ethics of the AICPA and the state society
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree; CPA preferred but not required
- Experience leading CAS/CAAS engagements in a public accounting firm
- Proven ability to drive and lead month-end close processes, including ownership of deadlines, reviews of and accuracy of work performed by other team members, and corporate accounting processes and procedures such as cash management, AR/AP, payroll, and benefits
- Strong GAAP experience, including hands-on experience with consolidations, GL close, and financial reporting for the renewable energy industry
- Strong Renewable Energy experience with renewable energy projects, development and/or contractor operations and their related entities, including project costing and transfer of projects from one company to another
- Strong communication, documentation, and presentation skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Minimum Intermediate proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, etc.)
- Hands-on operational accounting experience in QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, BILL, BILL Spend and Expense (former Divvy) or similar AP and Expense automation tools highly preferred
- Strong project and time management skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail; action-oriented (self-starter, team player, detail-oriented) with aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines
- Significant knowledge of accounting and finance processes and functions, including strong understanding of financial statement preparation and analysis
