Overview
This role involves managing revenue recognition and reporting for a global software organization. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Worldwide Revenue Accounting, the Revenue Accounting Manager will ensure regional revenue streams comply with U.S. GAAP and internal policies. The position requires collaboration with Sales, Legal, Deal Operations, and Finance Business Partners to provide guidance on large enterprise contracts and oversee traditional revenue accounting functions.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and enforce the organization's revenue recognition policy
- Provide ongoing guidance on revenue recognition issues to business units
- Build and maintain relationships with sales, legal, finance business partners, and shared services teams
- Assist in preparing quarterly audit schedules and periodic revenue and deferred revenue reports for internal and external reporting
- Perform and review monthly account analyses and reconciliations, including validating deferred revenue, accounts receivable, and revenue financial statement balances
- Implement and document processes and procedures, including compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
- Support and participate in revenue-related projects and mergers & acquisitions activities
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or Finance
- 7-10+ years of revenue accounting experience, preferably within a software company
- Advanced knowledge of software revenue accounting guidelines, specifically ASC 606 Revenue from Contracts with Customers
- Experience with enterprise reporting systems; SAP experience is strongly preferred
- Willingness to travel to the San Francisco headquarters quarterly
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or equivalent accounting certification strongly preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Self-starter with excellent analytical, communication, and technical skills
- Strong understanding of finance and accounting practices in larger companies
- Ability to collaborate with key business stakeholders and communicate revenue accounting considerations to sales teams
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
- Confidence, good judgment, and the ability to work effectively across multiple business units, functions, and geographies
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting base salary range: $92,000 to $164,560 (U.S.-based roles), dependent on experience and location
