Overview

This role involves the development, analysis, reporting, and administration of sales compensation and commission programs within the organization. The position supports the design and maintenance of sales compensation plans and ensures accurate and timely processing of commission payments.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and development of sales compensation and commission plans for sales positions.
  • Maintain and update sales compensation and commission program applications, systems, and databases.
  • Follow corporate audit guidelines to ensure accuracy and efficiency in processing system hierarchy and commission changes.
  • Monitor sales compensation and commission payout processes to ensure correct calculations and timely payments.
  • Act as a liaison to respond to inquiries and resolve issues related to sales compensation and commissions.
  • Perform complex data modeling to analyze the design and effectiveness of compensation programs and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and distribute reports on commissions, bonuses, sales compensation, and Form 5500 Schedule A information, including financial accruals.
  • Update and maintain documentation and procedures; provide onboarding and ongoing training on sales compensation and commission programs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards related to compensation activities.
  • Participate in various sales compensation and commission-related projects.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong preference for experience in sales compensation or commission plan administration; flexible equivalent backgrounds considered include financial analysis, compensation analysis, payroll with variable pay, sales/revenue operations, business/data analysis with financial or incentive modeling, and accounting or audit experience focused on reconciliation and controls.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and manipulate large datasets with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to present complex data to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Adherence to ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive compensation information.
  • Problem-solving skills to analyze compensation issues, propose solutions, and recommend improvements.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to create or modify queries and reports and present findings.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP, with aptitude for learning other analytical tools.
  • Knowledge of database applications.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, related field, or equivalent related experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive relevant work experience.
  • Equivalent military experience is also considered.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience in sales compensation and commission program administration and analysis.
  • Experience with sales compensation management software.
  • Knowledge or experience in sales compensation plan design.
  • SQL experience.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint and Salesforce.
  • Experience with LifePRO and/or Compass systems.
  • Understanding of financial concepts and ability to interpret financial data.
  • Experience with MS Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and MS Power BI.
  • Experience with data visualization tools and development.
  • Background in insurance or finance.
  • Relevant industry certifications.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting base salary range: $55,000 to $77,000, varying by geographic location and candidate qualifications.
