Overview
A professional services firm is seeking experienced Individual Tax Reviewers for the 2027 tax season. This role involves reviewing complex individual tax returns prepared by junior staff, providing feedback and guidance, and potentially compiling and presenting training materials. The position is remote and does not involve client contact.
Responsibilities
- Review individual tax returns prepared by junior staff using CCH Axcess software.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of tax returns by referencing prior year tax documents.
- Follow federal, state, and local tax laws and conduct research as needed.
- Escalate complex tax issues to management when appropriate.
- Use practice management software for workflow and client billing.
- Provide guidance and training to tax preparers on new or complex tax topics.
- Participate in department meetings via Microsoft Teams.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience within a CPA firm or tax preparation company.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with SurePrep software.
- Strong interpersonal skills to serve as a subject matter expert and resolve escalated inquiries.
- Availability to attend training during the 4th week of January 2027.
- Ability to work part-time in January and February, then maintain a consistent schedule 6 to 7 days per week through April 15.
- Must be authorized to work permanently in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation preferred but not required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated hourly pay range (for Denver, CO) is $37 to $83, depending on skills, experience, and location.
- Remote work eligibility may be considered for candidates located in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Florida, Colorado, South Carolina, or Texas.
