Overview

A senior accounting role is available to support the full month-end close process, including preparing complex journal entries, performing detailed balance sheet reconciliations, conducting account analysis, and contributing to forecasting activities. This position collaborates closely with accounting, operational, and business leaders to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and strong internal controls. The role also supports audit requirements, identifies process improvements, develops accounting procedures, mentors junior staff, and provides financial analysis to inform business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Support month-end close by preparing complex journal entries and ensuring accurate transaction recording.
  • Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany accounts, to ensure financial data accuracy.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, identifying trends, variances, and improvement opportunities.
  • Record and manage accruals and prepaid expenses in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Collaborate with accounting, operational, and business leaders to align financial reporting with business objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal controls; support design and enhancement of control processes.
  • Assist audit preparation by providing schedules, documentation, and explanations for internal and external auditors.
  • Support quarter-end and year-end reporting, including preparation of supporting schedules and analyses.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analyses to support decision-making and provide business performance insights.
  • Identify and implement process improvements within general ledger, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
  • Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to promote consistency and efficiency.
  • Mentor and guide Staff Accountants, providing coaching and support on accounting tasks and best practices.
  • Serve as a key resource for accounting-related inquiries from internal stakeholders.
  • Utilize a large-scale ERP system to manage general ledger activities, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Use Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, to analyze data, build reports, and support financial planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience reconciling balance sheet accounts.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience recording journal entries in a general ledger environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience preparing and analyzing financial statements.
  • Minimum 3 years of audit preparation experience supporting internal or external audits.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience recording accruals and prepaid expenses.
  • Experience working for a publicly traded manufacturing company.
  • Strong general ledger accounting experience, including intercompany reconciliations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Proficiency with a large-scale ERP system.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and internal control principles.
  • Ability to perform detailed account analysis and interpret financial data.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Effective collaboration skills with accounting, operational, and business leaders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • CPA designation or progress toward certification.
  • Experience in publicly traded environments beyond manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Experience mentoring or training junior accounting staff.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $90,000 - $95,000 per year.
