Overview
This role is responsible for corporate tax compliance and accounting support as a Tax Senior Accountant. Under limited supervision, the position applies specialized tax knowledge to assist with a broad range of corporate tax activities, with primary focus on state tax compliance, audits, and notices. The role also supports federal and international tax compliance, quarterly and annual income tax provision and reporting requirements under ASC 740, tax research, and account reconciliations.
Responsibilities
- Assist with state audit requests and coordinate with state auditors on moderate to complex tax issues.
- Support technology improvement processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Research and apply applicable IRS and state regulations and interpretations.
- Research the tax ramifications of moderately complex transactions.
- Prepare and review tax workpapers, calculations, and forms for federal and state tax compliance.
- Review federal and state income tax returns, including consolidated/combined returns.
- Supervise, review, and analyze state apportionment and allocation workpapers.
- Review annual tax return extensions and quarterly estimated payment calculations.
- Respond to notices from federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
- Analyze FASB 109 (ASC 740) and FIN 48 (ASC 740-10) regulations; prepare quarterly/annual income tax provision, related disclosures to the financial statements, and internal stakeholder reporting.
- Maintain regular contact with internal and external clients and/or auditors.
- Perform various levels of tax consulting work in response to client needs.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years’ experience in tax accounting and compliance, preferably with a portion of the experience at a public accounting firm.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and apply complex IRS and state rules, regulations, and requirements.
- Ability to identify and resolve moderate tax issues.
- Ability to identify, recommend, and implement process improvements.
- Demonstrated efficiency and flexibility performing detailed transactional tasks in a fast-paced work environment with frequent interruptions, changing priorities, and deadlines.
- Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all organizational levels.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Tax preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $100,000.00–$105,000.00
