Overview
The organization is seeking a Senior Accountant I to support the Corporate Accounting team. This role partners with teams across North America, EMEA, and APAC to support close and reporting activities, process improvement initiatives, and other key finance projects. The ideal candidate is analytical, collaborative, and motivated to continuously improve processes and controls.
Responsibilities
- Support accounting team operations by maintaining current understanding of evolving business models and policies while adhering to effective internal controls across global financial systems, procedures, and processes.
- Collaborate across the organization to meet business needs, support key decisions, and promote teamwork.
- Identify process improvement opportunities, including creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and dashboards.
- Prepare manual journal entries related to accruals, prepaids, reserves as needed to ensure month-end close activities comply with GAAP.
- Monitor accounting entries created during the month to ensure sub-ledger accounting is created as expected.
- Analyze monthly financial results and provide variance and trend explanations, including analytical write-ups for senior management and business partners.
- Identify data anomalies and exceptions in summarized financial data, understand underlying reasons and impacts, and explain issues to leadership.
- Participate in timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close process tasks, including processing routine journal entries and responding to information requests.
- Support the annual audit process by providing data, financial information, or analysis in response to ad hoc requests.
- Collaborate with international teams to ensure consistent practical application of accounting policy across the enterprise.
- Support assurance of accurate data integrity for documentation supporting finance close activities.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts between sub-ledger and general ledger with moderate complexity.
- Communicate with department staff that initiated transactions to implement follow-up procedures, resolve reconciling items, and document procedures.
- Document procedures and keep them up to date to reflect changes.
- Identify opportunities to improve reconciliation and reporting processes.
- Research accounting issues, document conclusions, and communicate recommendations to management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 2+ years’ experience in public accounting OR 4+ years in accounting/finance.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
- Continuous improvement mindset with interest in process optimization and automation.
- Ability to work effectively across teams and geographies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA preferred.
- Public accounting experience.
Compensation & Benefits
- Typical annual salary range: $75,000.00 - $112,000.00 (negotiable depending upon experience and location).
