Overview
A Senior Accountant P3 position is available within a Client Accounting Services team located in Westmont, IL. This role involves managing complex accounting tasks, preparing financial statements, and supporting a diverse client portfolio. It is suited for experienced accountants seeking to advance their careers in client-focused financial management and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly and quarterly property financial statements for a portfolio of 4 to 6 properties according to client deadlines.
- Prepare and distribute monthly and quarterly financial reports, including journal entries, financial statement preparation, and bank reconciliations, adhering to established controls and client reporting requirements.
- Develop a thorough understanding of internal accounting requirements and ensure compliance with client-established standards.
- Serve as a resource to site property teams by coordinating procedures and responding to accounting and client inquiries.
- Oversee internal and external audits, coordinating with various departments to meet audit requirements.
- Manage bank reconciliations, cash management for loan servicing, disbursement processing, and external reporting.
- Coordinate the Accounts Payable process by reviewing invoice coding and approvals, ensuring compliance with all relevant controls.
- Assist with annual budget preparation by compiling key assumptions and capital budget information, reviewing for accuracy, and ensuring timely entry into the accounting system.
- Support the annual year-end reconciliation process by preparing, calculating, and reviewing reconciliations, ensuring all adjustments are billed timely and correctly per lease requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; CPA designation is desirable.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Real Estate Accounting.
- Knowledge of Common Area Maintenance (CAM) and FASB 13 is required.
- Strong adaptability to varying environments, tasks, responsibilities, and interpersonal interactions.
- Effective planning and organizing skills to establish and evaluate goals.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and prioritize workload to meet client needs.
- Client-focused with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships, gaining trust and respect.
- Comfortable dealing with ambiguity, change, risk, and uncertainty.
- Results-driven with a strong commitment to exceeding goals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel; knowledge of Access is desirable.
- Experience with real estate-specific software such as MRI or Yardi is preferred.
