Senior Accountant – Insurance

Overview

A permanent Senior Accountant role is available with a well-established organization in the life insurance & annuity industry. This position supports the Finance team and may be based in Charlotte, NC or Remote.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial reports and statements.
• Lead new project initiatives to help scale the overall accounting team.
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) specific to the insurance sector.
• Prepare statutory financial statements and other regulatory filings.
• Assist with monthly and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Partner with internal teams to analyze financial data and report on financial performance.
• Support financial audits and coordinate with auditors to ensure queries are handled efficiently.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Accounting Degree.
• CPA.
• Background in insurance or financial services.

Key Skills

• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience with statutory reporting and finance operations within the insurance industry.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
