Overview
This is a fully remote position.
The Senior Accountant, Inventory role manages inventory-related accounting activities to support accurate, timely financial reporting. The position plays a critical role in month-end close processes, account reconciliations, and audit support in a control-focused environment. The work includes improving accounting processes, strengthening documentation, and partnering cross-functionally to maintain financial integrity.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities for inventory accounts.
- Create journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analyses, and supporting schedules.
- Analyze inventory activity to identify trends, discrepancies, and process issues.
- Research and resolve differences between operational records, subledger, and general ledger balances.
- Maintain complete, audit-ready documentation for accounting conclusions and reconciliations.
- Prepare and maintain complex reconciliations for inventory and related balance sheet accounts.
- Investigate reconciling items and perform root-cause analysis with cross-functional teams.
- Execute SOX controls and maintain evidence for control performance and review readiness.
- Support improvements in reconciliation quality, documentation, and close consistency.
- Assist internal and external audit requests with schedules, support, and explanations.
- Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, IT, FP&A, Internal Audit, and other teams to resolve issues.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance workflows and documentation.
- Communicate risks, questions, and solutions clearly and promptly to management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience including month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and audit support.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and documentation standards.
- Experience reconciling operational or financial data across multiple systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the capability to analyze large data sets.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CPA candidate status.
- Experience in public company or complex environments.
- Inventory or cost accounting expertise.
- Experience in control-focused or transformational settings.
