Overview
This role supports the Electro Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) line of business, which develops, manufactures, and supports infrared and electro-optical solutions for military applications. The position is remote with support for the Melbourne, FL office and requires occasional onsite presence. The schedule follows a 9/80 workweek.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex accounting tasks including non-standard reports and impact analysis of projects and transactions
- Audit accounts to ensure compliance with corporate policies
- Conduct cost system studies
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of expenses, taxes, insurance, overhead, accounts payable/receivable, and special funds
- Lead tasks or project aspects and provide guidance to less experienced staff
- Recommend improvements to accounting policies and procedures
- Apply accounting principles to monitor and analyze financial data and prepare specialized reports
- Balance books and prepare financial statements such as profit/loss, income, and cash flow
- Record assets, liabilities, and other financial transactions
- Maintain records of disbursements and expenses
- Review accounts and reports for accuracy
- Contribute to the design or modification of accounting systems
- Improve processes and procedures for capturing, tracking, and reporting financial transactions
- Ensure adherence to and communication of accounting policies and procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Minimum 5 years of directly related experience, preferably in a government contracting environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with Defense contracting and familiarity with GAAP, SOX, FAR, and DCAA requirements
- Direct experience preparing and reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations
- Power Query experience is highly desired
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Active Department of Defense security clearance or ability to obtain one within a reasonable time after employment start
