Overview
This organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee a team of staff accountants, ensure high-quality financial reporting, and build strong client relationships through virtual delivery of financials (e.g., virtual meetings and email).
The role supports clients in a real estate niche, including Real Estate Investors, Syndicates, and Fund Managers. This is a 100% virtual position, with team members located across the United States.
Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of staff accountants to ensure quality and timely delivery by clearing roadblocks, setting deadlines, managing capacity, and providing training and guidance.
- Adhere to professional ethics and client confidentiality requirements (including firm and AICPA policies).
- Create, review, and deliver high-quality, timely financial statements, including dashboards, KPIs, and forecasting; maintain and build client relationships and recommend additional firm services where appropriate.
- Provide prompt updates to supervisors, peers, and clients on project status, with same-day responsiveness.
- Support projects throughout the year to enhance client/employee experience, including (but not limited to) client proposals, process improvements, efficiency and effectiveness committees, and development of training materials.
- Lead efficient client onboarding using project management tracking to ensure a smooth, timely, satisfactory client experience and ensure a clean year-end hand-off of client information to the tax team.
- Complete applicable administrative tasks, including maintaining accurate and up-to-date project information in the project management system and taking and appropriately storing client notes.
- Engage in relevant CPE opportunities to continuously enhance technical skills and stay current with evolving accounting processes.
- Provide technical input on accounting issues, train and supervise less experienced staff, and create/implement improvements for the team and firm.
- Serve as a liaison between accounting and tax to support a seamless transition for clients during year-end and tax preparation.
Measures for Success
- Client NPS ratings averaging 9/10 or greater.
- Timeliness of deliverables and workpapers, reflected by production metrics.
- Accuracy of deliverables and workpapers, reflected by instant accounting feedback quality ratings—maintaining less than 5% unsatisfactory in instant feedback quality ratings.
- Development of technical skills, reflected in instant feedback quality ratings and the ability to tackle projects of greater complexity.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience, with 2 years experience as a Senior Accountant overseeing a team of staff accountants (recommended).
- QBO certified.
- CPA or CMA recommended or actively pursuing.
