Overview
This position supports the accounting and financial operations of growing commodity businesses, with a focus on operating expenses and ancillary business units. The role is key to ensuring accurate financial reporting and providing financial insights across multiple business segments.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Audit
- Prepare and maintain general ledger entries and account reconciliations
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Analyze variances and provide explanations to management
- Assist with external audits by preparing schedules and documentation
Accounts & Transactions
- Process journal entries as directed by the Accounting Manager
- Perform monthly reconciliations including but not limited to:
- Bank reconciliations
- Operating expenses
- Sales and cost of sales
- Accounts receivable
- Accrued purchases
- Accounts payable
Analysis & Stakeholder Support
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
- Respond to corporate tax data requests
- Collaborate with partners across different business segments
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation
Requirements
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA certification preferred but not required
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years accounting experience
- Utility accounting experience is a plus
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Great Plains) and AI tools is a plus

- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $72,420.00 - $115,870.00 (base pay only)
- Eligibility for annual incentive plan based on company performance
