Overview

A fast-growing health insurance organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee fiduciary and client-facing financial processes. This role involves managing premium and reserve reconciliations, broker payments, trust account activity, and ensuring accuracy and compliance in client and carrier transactions. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and collaboration across departments to maintain the integrity of fiduciary-related financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile over 500 fiduciary bank accounts monthly
  • Execute and oversee FBO account replenishments by analyzing individual client balances to ensure adequate funding
  • Prepare and reconcile client reserve balances; investigate root causes of three-way mismatches
  • Review carrier premium reconciliations
  • Provide Account Executive team with return of reserve offers at plan year end and record accepted offers in the accounting system
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation of contract assets in alignment with revenue recognition policies
  • Provide Senior VP of Finance with captive claims amounts quarterly and record in accounting system
  • Prepare and reconcile client accounts by ID in the accounting system
  • Review all client carrier invoices for approval
  • Calculate, track, and process monthly broker payments; distribute over 150 broker statements via email
  • Manage ACH setup and maintenance for carriers and brokers
  • Allocate member PayPal refunds in the accounting system
  • Prepare and import daily client claims check reports
  • Track and maintain accurate records of all client claims checks, including voids and reissues; collaborate with internal departments to resolve member reimbursement issues
  • Import member check payments accurately and promptly into the accounting system
  • Work with Supervisor of Client Billing & AR to process, approve, and record client termination billings
  • Manage and execute the escheatment process in compliance with regulations
  • Lead evaluation and implementation of new systems to streamline fiduciary processes
  • Support the annual financial audit, including documentation and process explanations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Senior VP of Finance

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of corporate accounting experience
  • Strong audit knowledge and solid understanding of accounting functions
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP
  • Expertise in Excel and Tableau; experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate complex financial data to executive leadership
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and balanced judgment to solve problems and drive confident decisions
  • Proficiency in AI-driven tools and solutions to improve processes, optimize performance, and support continuous innovation

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $75,000 - $95,000
