Overview

This role prepares in-depth financial analyses and research to support timely management decisions and/or financial reports and statements. You will analyze and evaluate the financial implications of business decisions and transactions, develop and manipulate complex financial models, and support internal and external audits.

The position also performs complex reinsurance accounting, including journal entries, analysis and reconciliation of complex general ledger accounts, activity and variances, and preparation of insurance company Annual Statement supplemental schedules filed with regulators.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare in-depth financial analyses and research to support management decisions and financial reporting.
  • Analyze and evaluate the financial implications of business decisions and transactions on financial results.
  • Research, evaluate, and interpret financial data using advanced and emerging financial techniques and tools.
  • Develop, design, test, and document complex financial models to support business initiatives.
  • Partner with departments to ensure understanding of financial consequences resulting from actions.
  • Support internal and external auditors by preparing complex analytical schedules, responding to inquiries, researching issues, and implementing recommended changes.
  • Develop, design, test, and document system changes or upgrades.
  • Represent finance on corporate teams and initiatives.
  • Perform complex reinsurance accounting, including:
    • Preparing journal entries
    • Analyzing and reconciling complex general ledger accounts
    • Reviewing activity and variances
  • Prepare and balance Annual Statement supplemental schedules filed with regulators.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
  • Experience as a Financial Analyst/Accountant or similar position
  • Experience preparing and developing financial reports
  • Experience using automated accounting and/or management reporting systems
  • Experience preparing, analyzing, and interpreting in-depth analyses of financial and/or statistical data
  • Experience developing and manipulating models using Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to oversee and guide assigned individual deliverables to successful completion

Preferred

  • Certified Public Accountant and/or Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Tax
  • Experience in using automated accounting systems
  • Financial reporting experience (e.g., financial statement preparation, review, and analysis)
  • Experience preparing complex journal entries
  • Experience preparing complex account analysis and general ledger reconciliations
  • Insurance and/or reinsurance accounting or financial analysis experience
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or Insurance Statutory Accounting Principles
  • Experience in statutory financial statement preparation
  • Experience in economic regression analysis of variables that drive financial results/support project recommendations
  • Experience in developing/implementing business simulation/models
  • Experience in placement of reinsurance coverage for insurance companies

Knowledge and Skills

  • Property/casualty insurance industry knowledge, including insurance product and operations
  • Automated accounting systems knowledge
  • Analytic, numerical, and statistical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret insurance and reinsurance contracts

Work Environment

  • Work is performed from a home office location.
  • Depending on the role, some employees may be required to come into the office at a minimum for important departmental meetings or team-building events.

Compensation

  • Senior Corporate Auditor will earn $67,371 - $90,000 annually with annual bonus potential based on performance.
