Overview

A financial services organization is seeking a highly analytical and relationship-oriented Senior Analyst – Special Assets. This role focuses on delinquency management, servicing, and resolution of loans throughout their full life cycle, with an emphasis on real estate–secured agricultural lending loan servicing.

Responsibilities

Loan Servicing & Special Asset Management

  • Manage higher risk and non-performing assets, coordinating with legal and other internal and external stakeholders to achieve resolutions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on agricultural real estate secured loan servicing, including interpretation of loan documents, mortgages, and collateral.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop servicing and resolution strategies balancing credit risk, borrower relationships, and investor requirements.

Servicing Analysis, Recommendation, and Processing

  • Analyze and evaluate borrower, property, and financial information to support servicing actions.
  • Communicate servicing decisions, terms, and conditions clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Generate, review, and execute documentation related to servicing actions and ensure accurate system updates.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, investor guidelines, and internal policies in all servicing activities.

Risk & Portfolio Support

  • Act as a subject matter expert in loan servicing and special asset management, contributing to policy development and process improvements.
  • Provide strategic insight into emerging servicing and portfolio risks related to real estate and agricultural loan portfolios.
  • Support training and knowledge-sharing initiatives focused on servicing best practices and life-of-loan risk management.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Solid understanding of real estate–secured lending and agricultural loan servicing, including regulatory and investor considerations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a borrower-focused approach.
  • Experience with loan servicing systems and financial analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of the full loan life cycle, from origination and closing through servicing, modification, and payoff or resolution.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling sensitive borrower information.
  • Collaborative team player capable of working independently and contributing to team success.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in agriculture and business finance, with demonstrated knowledge of credit risk and loan servicing.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Typical starting salary range: $75,000 - $95,000, varying based on experience and geography.
  • Performance-based bonus and equity-based awards.
  • Individual compensation commensurate with experience.

Location and Work Environment

  • Position based in Washington, D.C. headquarters, Johnston, Iowa office, or remote within the contiguous United States.
  • Core business hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central Time.
  • Flexibility in work location with occasional requirements for work outside core hours to meet project deadlines or attend meetings.

Reporting and Collaboration

  • Reports to the Manager - Servicing.
  • Works closely with Operations, Accounting, Farm and Ranch Credit, and Legal departments.
  • Liaises with external stakeholders including Seller Banks, borrowers, outside legal counsel, investors, and other counterparties.
