Overview
An organization is seeking an experienced Senior Credit Underwriter with a strong background in underwriting franchise transactions ranging from $100K app-only financing to multi-million-dollar financing involving full financial analysis. The ideal candidate will have expertise in assessing the creditworthiness of franchise operators and evaluating the market positioning and prospects of franchise brands across a wide spectrum.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite franchise transactions, including complex situations such as pro forma analysis, multi-layered ownership structures, roll-ups of multiple entities, refinancings, and acquisitions.
- Analyze financial statements to gain a deep understanding of business operations beyond standard ratios and margins.
- Mentor and train colleagues in financial analysis and underwriting techniques.
- Collaborate constructively and timely with Originations and other divisions, applying credit policies accurately and commercially sensibly.
- Engage and inspire team members and other departments to maintain adherence to credit policies.
Skills and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of internal credit processes and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with personnel, customers, and third-party originators.
- Ability to analyze both structured and unstructured information and financial statements to identify trends and outliers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple underwriting transactions simultaneously under fluctuating workloads.
- Well-developed planning, time management, and organizational skills.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent financial experience preferred.
- Minimum of two years in a Senior Credit Analyst position required.
- Full financial franchise restaurant underwriting experience.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong PC skills, including proficiency in MS Office suite and Salesforce.
- Self-motivated with strong initiative, accountability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and clients.
Preferred Qualifications
- Passion for understanding how franchise businesses operate, including business models, efficiency drivers, operating leverage, and competitive positioning.
- Experience in similar sectors beyond franchises is a plus.
