Overview

This role involves senior-level ownership of accounting operations as the organization scales. Reporting directly to the CFO, the position offers a growth path to Controller and focuses on hands-on execution alongside continuous improvement of accounting processes, systems, controls, and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Own significant portions of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, ensuring accuracy and full compliance with US GAAP.
  • Lead and coordinate consolidation across entities to produce clean, audit-ready consolidated financial statements.
  • Build and maintain revenue accounting processes for a SaaS and usage-based business, including judgment-heavy areas such as revenue recognition under ASC 606.
  • Evaluate, select, and deploy ERP and close-management tooling, with an emphasis on AI-native systems that reduce manual work.
  • Design and continuously improve scalable accounting policies, controls, documentation, and processes as the organization grows.
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Legal, and the broader business to support fundraising, board reporting, and ad hoc financial analysis.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; plan and run the annual audit end-to-end, manage PBC lists, and resolve technical accounting issues.
  • Identify and eliminate manual, repetitive accounting work by using AI tools where they can improve the speed, cleanliness, and scalability of the close.
  • Work closely with the CFO and finance leadership on accounting-related initiatives and broader finance priorities.

Requirements

  • Deep working knowledge of US GAAP, with 5–7+ years of experience in SaaS or usage-based revenue businesses, including revenue recognition complexity under ASC 606.
  • Direct experience with multi-entity financial reporting and consolidation.
  • Track record of evaluating and deploying ERP or accounting systems, with fluency in AI tools as part of everyday accounting workflows.
  • Experience owning or significantly contributing to the auditor relationship and leading a financial statement audit from planning through completion.
  • CPA required.
  • Public accounting background is a plus.
  • Ability to operate effectively without a large team, building and improving the function rather than only managing an established process.
  • Strong judgment and attention to detail, with the ability to shift between hands-on execution and higher-level process design.
