Overview
This role is for a self-motivated and resourceful Bank Controller to help build and operate a regulated banking entity during its formation phase. The Bank Controller will report to the Bank CFO and play a central role in both the formation and day-to-day operational build-out of the bank.
Responsibilities
- Lead the bank accounting function: Build and lead the Bank accounting team, providing strategic direction, recruitment, and coaching as the function is established.
- Manage general ledger and daily operations: Oversee day-to-day operational duties, including management of the G/L and daily operational flows.
- Integrate accounting systems and processes: Ensure successful integration of accounting systems and processes into the organization’s broader systems and processes.
- Develop regulatory reporting: Build and maintain a controlled regulatory reporting function to ensure timely and accurate preparation of required filings, including:
- FFIEC 041 Call Reports
- Part 363 Annual Reports
- Federal Reserve reporting
- Ensure cross-functional coordination: Act as a primary liaison with cross-functional teams, ensuring effective service delivery under the Intercompany Program Agreement while maintaining independent oversight required for a regulated banking entity.
- Own monthly reporting: Oversee all monthly reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, ensuring timely completion and submission.
- Coordinate external audit: Work closely with external auditors to coordinate completion of the annual bank financial statement audit.
- Drive accounting/reporting automation: Partner with engineering and product teams to evaluate, improve, and implement tools that support accounting and reporting automation.
- Support strategic analysis: Manage other processes and functions, including financial analysis and projects as required.
Requirements
- Accounting designation such as CPA or CA.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in Accounting, Finance, or Treasury-related areas.
- Minimum 5 years of people management experience.
- Experience building tools and processes, and scaling an Accounting team in a similar industry.
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP and regulatory reporting.
- Proven analysis, cash management, and modeling experience.
- Extremely detail-oriented with strong critical thinking.
- Strategic, goal-driven, focused approach with a “can-do” attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
Compensation & Benefits
- USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT): $185,000 - $245,000 per year
- USA base pay range (all other U.S. states): $164,000 - $224,000 per year
- New hires typically come in at the start of the pay range.

Location
- Remote-first with flexibility built in: Most roles can be done from almost anywhere within the country of employment.
- Some positions may occasionally require in-person work at an office, and a few are office-based due to the nature of the work.
