Overview
This role involves serving as Bank Controller during a pivotal period of growth, as the bank is currently in its formation phase. You will report to the Bank CFO and play a key role in both the formation and operational build-out of the bank.
Responsibilities
- Lead Bank Accounting operations: Oversee day-to-day operational duties for the Bank Accounting Team, including managing the G/L and daily operational flows.
- Integrate accounting systems and processes: Ensure successful integration of accounting systems and processes into the broader organization’s systems and processes.
- Build regulatory function: Develop and stand up a controlled regulatory reporting function to ensure timely and accurate preparation of required filings, including:
- FFIEC 041 Call Reports
- Part 363 Annual Reports
- Federal Reserve reporting
- Manage financial reporting: Oversee all monthly reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, ensuring timely completion and submission.
- Partner across functions while maintaining independence: Serve as a primary liaison with cross-functional teams under the Intercompany Program Agreement, while maintaining independent oversight necessary for a regulated banking entity.
- Coordinate audit readiness: Work closely with external auditors to coordinate completion of the annual Bank financial statement audit.
- Drive process automation: Collaborate with engineering and product teams to evaluate, improve, and implement tools that support accounting and reporting automation.
- Support strategic analysis and projects: Manage other financial analysis and projects as required.
- Build and develop the team: Build and lead the Bank accounting team, providing strategic direction, recruitment, and coaching as the function is established.
Requirements
- Accounting designation such as CPA or CA
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Accounting, Finance, or Treasury-related areas
- 5+ years of people management experience
- Experience building out tools and processes and scaling an Accounting team in a similar industry
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP and regulatory reporting
- Proven analysis, cash management, and modeling experience
- Extremely detail oriented with strong critical thinking
- Strategic, goal driven, and focused with a “can-do” attitude

Base pay grade: M
Equity grade: USA 10
Employees new to the organization typically come in at the start of the pay range. Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and tech spending, and benefits including 100% subsidized medical coverage plus dental and vision for you and your dependents.
- USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $185,000 - $245,000
- USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $164,000 - $224,000

Location
Remote-first with flexibility built in. Most roles can be done from almost anywhere within the country of employment. Some positions may occasionally require in-person work at an organization office, and a few are office-based due to the nature of the work. All new hires will be invited to attend an in-person onboarding experience.
